Last weekend saw me, the Mr and our friends, Matt, Lynz and Simon, go camping. We went to a site near Matlock called Middlehills Farm. It was our first time camping there and I was a little worried that we wouldn't enjoy it as much as when we go to our usual camping site. There was nothing to worry about as the site was great.
It has 3 fields to pitch up in, toilet blocks, shower facilities and a really well stocked shop. The one major difference with this site is the amount of animals they have. There are 2 goats, 2 pigs with 2 babies, chickens, cockerels and cows. There is also a brilliant playground for the young 'uns and on the Saturday they even bought out a bouncy castle slide so I would recommend this site for families.

We pitched up in glorious weather and thankfully the rain waited until we were finished. Now, it normally rains when we go camping so we are used to it. We have a gazebo so that helps too!
On the Friday night we lounged round the camp. On Saturday we went into Matlock to get supplies then we decided to have a hour in Matlock Bath on the arcades. We then headed back to camp to drop off the cars and make the short walk to the pub nearby. Now, to say this pub was a dump would be an understatement. My glass was black and the Mr couldn't even finish his pint so that shows how pap the beer was. We decided to make a swift exit and go back to camp, collect the cars and go to the pub that we usually go to near our regular site.

In typical English camping tradition, the Sunday morning we were going home, the sun couldn't have been brighter and the wind was nonexistant.
After bailing 10 frying pans of water out of Matt and Lynz's tent (yes, Matt left the tent door open on the first night in the rain!) we were all packed up ready to head back to our mod cons.
Camping is such an easy and cheap way to have a break. I really enjoy getting away from the iPad and telly and just spending time with friends without something interrupting.
So if your thinking about going camping but are still in 2 minds, take the leap and get your tent out.
You will not regret it at all.

Much Love
